Nov. 9 in Moab, Utah was packed with speakers and workshops intended to provide rural business owners and entrepreneurs education on a variety of topics. Successful business owners helped others with their ideas at the 5th annual Moab Business Summit.

$331 million to support 85 projects in rural America

In order to protect the health and safety of many that live and work in rural areas, USDA is investing $331 million in 85 projects to improve water and wastewater infrastructures in 39 different states across America. Since the Obama administration took office, the USDA has invested $13.9 billion to aid 5,825 water and waste infrastructure projects. These currently benefit 19.5 million rural residents.

Small town, small business BOOM

Ely, Iowa was definitely not a place many expected to have a growing community of businesses. But it’s happening there nonetheless, mostly on Dows Street, where businesses new and old are in each and every direction. Interestingly enough, most of these businesses are owned or co-owned by women.
