There are many ways government policies and programs can affect rural businesses – both at the national and local level. In this episode of the Rural Business Show, we explore some of them with two experts.
Diane Smith is an entrepreneur, policy expert and writer who lives in Whitefish, Montana. She is the CEO and Founder of American Rural, a coalition seeking to foster rural and small town opportunity and prosperity in order to serve rural Americans. The author of TheNewRural.Com, Diane makes the case that “There’s never been a better time to live and work in Rural America.”
Bruce Schwartau leads the University of Minnesota Cooperative Extension Community Economics program, which has been studying business succession in rural Minnesota and identifying what goes into a successful transition when rural businesses are sold. Local governments are one of the most important factors.
