Parowan, Utah home to new lodge with hopes of attracting tourists

“The Mother Town of Utah,” AKA Parowan, is now home to the Mountain View Lodge. Formerly a Days Inn, the renovated property is poised to attract Chinese tourists who are interested in visiting nearby Zion and Bryce National Parks, as well as Las Vegas. The owner of the property, who works with a Chinese-focused tour company – searched around the western U.S. for the right spot before zeroing in on Parowan. Officials hope for smart growth in the town, where new jobs can be created, while maintaining a rural lifestyle.

Town leaders contract consultants to help with retail economy

Nolesnville, Tennessee is spending $30,000 out of economic development funds to create a retail recruitment plan for the area. The town will task Mississippi consulting and staffing firm Retail Coach, LLC to first analyse the area to determine what retail businesses would be a good fit and then try to recruit some of those businesses to set up shop. Town officials feel that if at least one business is brought in, it will be worth the investment.

New board hopes to connect business opportunities with land owners

It is hoped the three- or four- person board could help identify ideal locations for new businesses and then help mitigate concerns residents may have.
