Officials hope for smart growth in the town, where new jobs can be created, while maintaining a rural lifestyle.
Town leaders contract consultants to help with retail economy
Nolesnville, Tennessee is spending $30,000 out of economic development funds to create a retail recruitment plan for the area. The town will task Mississippi consulting and staffing firm Retail Coach, LLC to first analyse the area to determine what retail businesses would be a good fit and then try to recruit some of those businesses to set up shop. Town officials feel that if at least one business is brought in, it will be worth the investment.
New board hopes to connect business opportunities with land owners
New business opportunities can be exciting. They can also be concerning to community members who are unsure how new projects will affect their surroundings. In Davison County, South Dakota, an idea was pitched for a new board of individuals that could talk to landowners directly about potential business opportunities. It is hoped the three- or four- person board could help identify ideal locations for new businesses and then help mitigate concerns residents may have.
